In 2022, we collaborated with the owner of the McKinley Estate to design and build the landscape for their elaborate guest house. The vision was to create an inviting space for guests that complemented the architecture of the house and the adjacent property.

To create contrast with the dark Shou Sugi Ban (carbonized wood) exterior, we surrounded the guest house with white blooms of crape myrtle trees, bright purple Russian sage and verbena. By installing steel-edged sand around the house, we added dimension to the property and reduced the water required for maintenance. Exterior lighting strips were installed under the deck to safely guide guests back to their room each evening.

We have nurtured and maintained this property since 2022. By planting species well suited for the Northern California soils and climate, we ensure that the landscaping for the McKinley Guest House will continue to grow and thrive for years to come.
